First Century Street
This first century Jerusalem street paved with huge flagstones was uncovered in the recent excavations of Ronny Reich. The street parallels the western wall of the Temple Mount (just south here of the prayer area) and bears evidence of the Roman destruction of the city in 70 A.D. The excavators left some of the stones on the street that the Romans toppled from the Temple Mount wall above.
