Capernaum synagogue
The synagogue at Capernaum visible today dates from several centuries after the time of Christ, but excavations have shown that it was built on top of a first century synagogue. In this earlier synagogue Jesus did miracles and preached sermons (Mark 1; John 6). Jesus' work was so abundant here that he claimed that even Sodom would have repented if it had witnessed so many miracles.
