The Lord’s Prayer Chanted in Greek

Listen to a recent recording of the Lord's Prayer sung in Greek in the style of a Gregorian chant.

While browsing the internet we stumbled across a recent recording of the Lord’s Prayer sung in Greek in the style of a Gregorian chant. The pronunciation isn’t Koine,[1] and the text is slightly different from that which occurs in Nestle-Aland.[2] Nevertheless, the recording may be of interest to students of New Testament Greek and edifying as a devotional aid for any listener. Here it is (enjoy!):

  • [2] The departures from the critical text are minute. In place of ὡς ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς (“as in heaven also on earth”) the chanted version has ὡς ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς (“as in heaven also on the earth”), and in place of ὡς καὶ ἡμεῖς ἀφήκαμεν τοῖς ὀφειλέταις ἡμῶν (“as also we forgave our debtors”) the chanted text has ὡς καὶ ἡμεῖς ἀφίεμεν τοῖς ὀφειλέταις ἡμῶν (“as also we forgive [present tense] our debtors”).
